STORM POLICY-2021

As every boater knows, storms and hurricanes are a drawback to boating. In the event NOAA has forecasted our area to experience a named tropical storm or hurricane and once we are in a “watch or warning” the following policies will go into effect.

All boats on our docks and our moorings MUST be removed.

All scheduled appointments will be canceled so we may prepare for the storm.

We will haul boats as long as it is safe to do so. We do not have a haul list, hauling is on a first come, first serve basis.

We will haul boats that go on their own trailers for the owner to take away or we will store the boats at our Smithneck lot.

We will haul out boats up to 25’ and take them to our Smithneck lot.

We will not be leaving boats in our village lot.

Boats needing to be towed to the crane area will be assessed an additional charge.

All sailboats must have the sails and booms removed and have rigging as loose as possible but still safely supported.

For safety reasons: customers and the general public will not be allowed in the work area and parking in our lot will be limited to vehicles with trailers, tenants and staff.

After the storm has passed all boats will be launched as quickly as possible.

Davis & Tripp, Inc. is under no obligation to remove your boat from the water during a storm event. The planning is the sole responsibility of the boat owner.

We realize that this arrangement may not be convenient for everyone. We feel it is necessary for our customers to know what to expect from Davis & Tripp, Inc. in a storm situation.

If you have any questions or need assistance in formulating a plan, please contact us.
